We are looking to connect with experienced Applied AI Engineers, Forward Deployed AI Engineers, GenAI Engineers, LLM Engineers, AI Solution Architects, MLOps Engineers, AI Product Engineers, AI Implementation Specialists, and Technical AI Consultants for our talent pool as we anticipate growing demand across South Africa’s enterprise, consulting, and Financial Services markets.

This is not an active role yet. We are proactively building a network of independent consultants and contractors with specialist AI implementation, engineering, and deployment expertise to support future projects across banking, insurance, fintech, telecoms, retail, healthcare, technology, and consulting.

As organisations continue to move from AI experimentation into real-world adoption, demand is increasing for professionals who can bridge the gap between business use cases, engineering, data, AI platforms, and enterprise deployment.

What you may support:

• Translate business challenges into practical AI, GenAI, automation, and data-driven solutions.
• Design, build, and deploy LLM-powered applications, AI agents, RAG solutions, chatbots, workflow automation tools, and enterprise AI products.
• Work directly with client stakeholders to identify, scope, prioritise, and implement high-value AI use cases.
• Integrate AI solutions into existing cloud platforms, data environments, APIs, enterprise systems, and operational workflows.
• Support the full delivery lifecycle from discovery and prototyping through to production deployment, adoption, monitoring, and optimisation.
• Build secure, scalable, and responsible AI solutions aligned to business, technology, risk, and governance requirements.
• Partner with product, engineering, data, operations, risk, compliance, and executive stakeholders to drive practical AI adoption.
• Produce high-quality technical documentation, solution designs, implementation roadmaps, and stakeholder presentations.

What we are looking for:

• Experience within Financial Services, insurance, fintech, consulting, technology, telecoms, retail, healthcare, or other enterprise environments.
• Strong experience in one or more of the following:
• Applied AI Engineering.
• Forward Deployed AI Engineering.
• Generative AI / LLM Engineering.
• AI Solution Architecture.
• MLOps / LLMOps.
• AI Product Engineering.
• AI Agents and Workflow Automation.
• AI Implementation and Deployment.
• Technical AI Consulting.
• Data Science or Machine Learning Engineering.
• Hands-on experience building or deploying AI, ML, or GenAI solutions beyond proof of concept.
• Experience using tools and platforms such as Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, SQL, LangChain, LlamaIndex, OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, Google Vertex AI, Databricks, Snowflake, vector databases, APIs, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, or similar technologies.
• Strong understanding of RAG, prompt engineering, model evaluation, AI agents, data pipelines, cloud deployment, monitoring, and productionisation.
• Ability to work directly with business and technical stakeholders to translate complex requirements into working solutions.
• Independent consulting, contracting, client-facing, or project-based delivery experience is advantageous.

Preferred background:

• AI, GenAI, or machine learning solutions that have moved from PoC into production.
• LLM-powered tools, chatbots, copilots, AI agents, or workflow automation solutions.
• RAG solutions using enterprise data sources, knowledge bases, document repositories, or customer data.
• AI adoption, digital transformation, data transformation, or automation programmes.
• MLOps, LLMOps, model monitoring, model governance, and production support.
• AI solutions within regulated environments such as banking, insurance, healthcare, telecoms, or fintech.
• Secure and responsible AI implementation, including privacy, governance, explainability, auditability, and risk controls.
• Client-facing technical delivery where you have partnered closely with business, product, data, and engineering teams.
• South African enterprise, Financial Services, consulting, or large-scale transformation environments.
