Project overview
Our client is seeking an experienced IT Technical Project Manager to support the delivery of technology transformation and systems implementation initiatives.
The role is suited to a hands-on Project Manager who has successfully managed technology projects from initiation through implementation, business readiness and operational handover. The successful consultant will work closely with business and technology teams to create delivery structure, coordinate project activities, manage risks and dependencies, and ensure that new systems and processes are effectively embedded into the organisation.
This is a strong opportunity for a Project Manager who has built solid delivery experience and is ready to take on greater ownership across complex, cross-functional technology initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of assigned technology and transformation projects.
- Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, budgets, milestones and resource requirements.
- Establish appropriate project governance, reporting routines and delivery cadence.
- Manage project risks, issues, dependencies, assumptions and change requests.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams across Business, Engineering, Architecture, Data, Security, QA and Operations.
- Work with business and technical stakeholders to clarify requirements, priorities and delivery outcomes.
- Manage external vendors and service providers, ensuring clear accountability for agreed deliverables.
- Support system implementation activities, including testing, release readiness and operational transition.
- Coordinate data migration, cutover planning, reconciliation activities and contingency planning where required.
- Ensure business readiness through stakeholder communication, training coordination, user preparation and adoption support.
- Track project expenditure and provide clear progress reporting to project sponsors and governance forums.
- Ensure delivery is aligned with internal governance, risk, security and regulatory requirements.
- Support post-implementation stabilisation and the effective handover of solutions into business-as-usual operations.
- Identify opportunities to improve project delivery processes, collaboration and ways of working.
- Proactively manage competing priorities and escalate material risks or delivery concerns.
Required experience
- Approximately 6–10 years of experience delivering IT, digital or technology-enabled projects.
- At least 3 years of experience in a Project Manager, Technical Project Manager or Delivery Lead role.
- Proven experience managing projects from initiation through implementation and operational handover.
- Experience delivering systems implementations, platform enhancements, modernisation or integration projects.
- Exposure to data migration, cutover planning, testing and business transition activities.
- Experience working with cross-functional business and technology teams.
- Experience managing project governance, budgets, schedules, risks, dependencies and vendors.
- Experience within Financial Services, FinTech or Insurance would be advantageous.
- Working knowledge of Agile, Waterfall and hybrid delivery approaches.
- Understanding of the software development lifecycle, testing, release management, security and operational readiness.
- Experience preparing project reporting and presenting progress to sponsors, Steering Committees or senior stakeholders.

Qualifications
- Relevant degree or diploma in Project Management, Information Technology, Engineering, Business or a related field.
- PMP, PRINCE2, Agile or an equivalent Project Management qualification would be advantageous.
