Our client, a leading global management consulting firm, is seeking a Mandarin-speaking Consultant / Project Manager to support consumer-focused consulting engagements in Shanghai or Hong Kong. The engagement is for 10 weeks, with a target start date of 7 September 2026, and the talent is expected to work full-time and in person at the client site.
There are currently two potential projects that may require similar profiles. One engagement relates to a duty-free online channel study and optimization for a multinational cosmetics company, while the second is within the hospitality / hotel industry. The selected talent will support one client engagement.
The role will require someone who can independently conduct research and analysis, engage with clients and experts, develop high-quality presentation materials, and take ownership of defined workstreams with limited supervision.
What you will be doing:
- Conduct industry and market research to support consumer-focused consulting engagements.
- Analyze market dynamics, customer behavior, and relevant industry trends to generate actionable insights.
- Support duty-free online channel studies and optimization for a multinational cosmetics company, where relevant to the assigned engagement.
- Conduct expert interviews and synthesize findings into clear, structured insights.
- Communicate directly with client stakeholders and contribute to client-facing discussions.
- Develop and structure PowerPoint presentations and other client deliverables.
- Independently plan and deliver assigned work modules / workstreams, managing priorities and timelines effectively.
- Translate research and analysis into clear recommendations and outputs for the consulting team and client.
- Work full-time and in person at the client site in Shanghai or Hong Kong for the duration of the engagement.
Your background
- 2–5 years of consulting or project management experience.
- Experience at MBB, ATK, RB, LEK, OCC, equivalent consulting firms, or project management experience within the Big Four consulting firms.
- Fluent Mandarin is required.
- Strong ability to independently conduct industry research, analysis and expert interviews.
- Demonstrated experience communicating with clients and stakeholders in a consulting environment.
- Strong PowerPoint / slide development skills and ability to translate analysis into clear client-ready outputs.
- Ability to independently plan, manage and deliver assigned work modules with a high degree of self-motivation.
- Consumer / retail experience is preferred, particularly exposure to duty-free online channels, e-commerce, or customer behavior studies.
