A global consulting firm is seeking an Associate Technical Consultant (Environment) to support a strategic engagement for a client in the ports infrastructure sector. The consultant will work alongside a multidisciplinary advisory team to deliver environment and sustainability workstreams for a large-scale greenfield port development.
In this role, you will support environmental research, sustainability analytics, regulatory compliance tracking, and high-quality client deliverables. You will work closely with senior consultants and technical experts to help integrate sustainability considerations into strategic planning and infrastructure development.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research on environmental regulations, coastal and forest clearances, and sustainability best practices.
- Benchmark ports and transport infrastructure assets on sustainability and decarbonisation initiatives, and analyse environmental data to support decision-making.
- Support environmental compliance tracking, maintain project documentation, and prepare technical notes and submissions for statutory authorities.
- Develop client-ready presentations, reports, and analytical deliverables while ensuring quality and data accuracy.
- Coordinate meeting materials, action trackers, and stakeholder communications across the project team.
- Work closely with the Environment & Sustainability Lead and cross-functional teams to support successful project delivery.
Your Background
- 2+ years of experience in strategy consulting, with exposure to strategic and operational consulting engagements.
- Graduate degree in Engineering or Science with a specialization in Environment, or a Postgraduate degree in Marine Biology.
- Experience in sustainability, environmental advisory, infrastructure strategy, or related consulting engagements.
- Exposure to the ports, airports, or broader transport infrastructure sector is preferred.
- Strong analytical, research, problem-solving, and presentation skills, with experience developing client-ready reports and presentations.
Other Info
- This is a full-time contractual opportunity with an initial duration of 12 months with extension based on project requirements and performance (total project duration - 21 months).
- The role requires consultants to be full-time, on-site in Chennai, Monday to Friday. There may be occasional travel to New Delhi based on project requirements.
- Consultants based outside Chennai are welcome to apply, with travel and accommodation support available during the engagement. (Weekend travel back to the consultant's base location can be accommodated.)
