Project Overview

A large financial services organisation is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to support delivery of complex process and technology initiatives within its payments and merchant acquiring domain. The role will focus on end-to-end requirements management, stakeholder engagement, and translating business needs into functional outcomes within an Agile squad environment. This is a hands-on role requiring strong domain expertise in card payments and merchant acquiring, alongside the ability to operate autonomously and manage competing priorities.


Key Activities:

  • Lead requirements elicitation focused on payments flows, acquiring processes, and transaction lifecycles
  • Analyse and document current and future state payment processes, including merchant onboarding, settlement, and reconciliation
  • Translate payments business requirements into user stories, functional designs, and API/interface requirements
  • Work closely with technology teams on payment integrations, gateways, and messaging standards (e.g. AS2805)
  • Support backlog management and delivery planning within an Agile squad
  • Perform data analysis across payment transactions to identify issues, trends, and optimisation opportunities
  • Identify and manage risks, dependencies, and regulatory/compliance considerations specific to payments environments
  • Support testing activities (SIT/UAT) ensuring accuracy of end-to-end payment processing
  • Engage stakeholders across product, operations, and technology to align on payment outcomes and impacts
  • Collaborate with external vendors and payment providers where required


Your Background:

Essential:

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience delivering complex process and technology change as a Senior Business Analyst
  • Strong expertise in process mapping using SIPOC and BPMN
  • Deep domain experience in merchant acquiring and card payments technologies
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills across multiple levels
  • Proven ability to manage deadlines and deliver outcomes in fast-paced environments


Desirable:

  • Experience in large-scale customer or data migration programmes
  • Experience using Confluence and JIRA for requirements and backlog management
  • Experience documenting customer journeys, process flows, and standard operating procedures
  • Working knowledge of merchant terminals, POS systems, AS2805 messaging, ecommerce, and payment gateways
  • Experience interpreting technical specifications (Pega and APIs)
  • Practical application of BABOK knowledge areas and Agile delivery methods
