Our client is looking for a FinCrime / AML expert based in Korea to conduct an independent review of the client’s existing AML framework and policies for a Payments Gateway / FX licensed business.
The primary objective is to assess whether the current AML policies and framework are appropriately aligned with applicable regulatory requirements and identify any gaps or areas requiring improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct an independent review of the existing AML / FinCrime framework and policies.
- Assess the framework against relevant Korean regulatory and AML requirements, industry standards and good practice.
- Review the broader FinCrime framework, including areas such as:
- AML policies and procedures
- KYC / CDD and EDD
- Customer risk assessment
- Transaction monitoring
- Sanctions and screening
- Suspicious transaction reporting
- AML governance and controls
- Risk assessment and financial crime controls
- Identify gaps, weaknesses and areas of potential regulatory risk.
- Provide clear recommendations and observations arising from the review.
- Work closely with relevant client stakeholders to understand the current framework and clarify existing policies and processes.
- Present findings and recommendations to client stakeholders at the conclusion of the review.
Requirements:
- Approximately 8 years of relevant FinCrime / AML experience.
- Strong experience across AML, KYC/CDD, transaction monitoring, sanctions, risk assessment and regulatory compliance.
- Experience conducting AML framework, policy or regulatory reviews is highly desirable.
- Previous experience with Korean AML regulations / regulators would be an advantage, but is not essential.
- Korean language proficiency is essential, with strong professional English also required.
- Must be based in Korea and able to work on the ground, likely in Seoul.
- Strong analytical, regulatory and stakeholder management skills.
- Able to operate independently and provide objective, practical recommendations.
