Our client is supporting a strategy engagement within the digital payments sector and is seeking consultants with experience in e-wallets, digital payments, and market entry strategy. The project will assess growth opportunities and competitive dynamics within the Southeast Asian payments landscape, with a particular focus on Indonesia.


The client is looking for consultants who can combine strong strategic problem solving with practical industry expertise. Experience within e-wallet providers, digital payments companies, fintechs, or broader financial services organisations is highly valued. In addition, there is a strong interest in candidates with consumer research experience, particularly around customer needs, product design, and proposition development within financial services.

Key Activities

  • Conduct market assessments of the digital payments and e-wallet landscape.
  • Support market entry strategy development and commercial opportunity analysis.
  • Analyse competitive positioning, customer behaviour, and market trends across Southeast Asia.
  • Conduct stakeholder, expert, and industry interviews.
  • Develop strategic recommendations based on quantitative and qualitative insights.
  • Perform research and analysis on digital payments ecosystems, regulatory considerations, and growth opportunities.
  • Prepare client-ready presentations and strategic deliverables.
  • Collaborate closely with the consulting team to deliver high-quality outputs within a fast-paced engagement.

For consultants with consumer research expertise:

  • Support customer needs analysis and segmentation.
  • Assess customer journeys and product propositions.
  • Provide insights to inform product design and go-to-market strategies.
  • Translate customer research findings into actionable business recommendations.


Your Background

Essential

  • Experience in strategy consulting, corporate strategy, fintech, payments, or related sectors.
  • Strong understanding of e-wallets, digital payments, or fintech ecosystems.
  • Experience supporting market entry strategy, growth strategy, or commercial strategy engagements.
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and own workstreams.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Preferred Senior Profile

  • 5–10 years of experience.
  • Deep expertise in digital payments, e-wallets, or fintech strategy.
  • Experience leading workstreams and managing stakeholder interactions.

Preferred Consultant Profile

  • 2–5 years of experience.
  • Experience conducting market research, competitive analysis, and strategy development.
  • Strong presentation and analytical capabilities.

Desirable

  • Fluent Bahasa Indonesia.
  • Experience working within Indonesian digital payments, fintech, or e-wallet businesses.
  • Knowledge of payments markets in other Southeast Asian countries.
  • Background within leading e-wallet providers, digital banks, payment processors, or fintech organisations.
  • Strong consumer research experience within financial services, including customer insight generation, product design, proposition development, and customer experience analysis.
