Our client, a global strategy consulting firm, is supporting a leading Public Sector Bank on a large-scale transformation initiative aimed at revamping its MSME underwriting framework. As part of this strategic program, the bank is looking to modernise its risk assessment processes, enhance underwriting effectiveness, and improve customer experience across its MSME lending portfolio.
The consultant will play a critical role in designing and implementing next-generation underwriting solutions, helping the client strengthen credit decisioning, optimise customer journeys, and build scalable risk management capabilities. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with senior stakeholders and drive meaningful impact within one of India's leading banking institutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and enhance underwriting frameworks and risk assessment methodologies for the MSME lending portfolio.
- Develop and refine underwriting scorecards, credit evaluation models, and decision-making tools to improve risk outcomes.
- Analyse existing lending processes and identify opportunities to streamline and optimise underwriting workflows.
- Work closely with client stakeholders across risk, credit, business, and operations functions to gather requirements and drive implementation.
- Support the redesign of MSME customer journeys to improve efficiency, turnaround times, and customer experience.
- Contribute to the development of governance structures, process documentation, and change management initiatives related to underwriting transformation.
Your Background
- 7+ years of experience in banking, credit risk, underwriting, or lending transformation initiatives.
- Strong expertise in MSME lending, credit underwriting, risk assessment, and scorecard/model development.
- Experience working with banks, financial institutions, NBFCs, or consulting firms serving the banking sector.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement risk frameworks, underwriting processes, and customer journey improvements.
- FRM certification is preferred but not mandatory.
- MBA, CA, or B.Tech from a reputed institution preferred.
- Strong stakeholder management, analytical problem-solving, and communication skills.
Other Info
The project is expected to commence in mid-July with a contract duration of 1 year, extendable to 2 years. The role is based in New Delhi and will require close collaboration with the client team on-site.
