Project Overview

Our client is a fast-scaling, fully remote technology organisation building enterprise-grade AI solutions on Google Cloud. Having grown significantly year-on-year, they are expanding rapidly and require a senior Cloud Architect to lead the design and delivery of complex, data-centric GCP architectures across their client portfolio. This is a high-autonomy, high-impact role suited to a deeply technical consultant who can operate independently from day one. There is minimal ramp time and the expectation is to contribute at full capacity immediately. The engagement carries a strong conversion pathway for the right individual, with the organisation actively scaling its permanent headcount over the next two years.

Key Activities

  • Design and architect modern, scalable data solutions leveraging GCP services including BigQuery, Dataflow, Looker, and Vertex AI
  • Lead technical architecture reviews and assessments, setting and enforcing engineering standards across client engagements
  • Act as a trusted advisor to CXO-level stakeholders, translating complex cloud and AI concepts into clear business outcomes
  • Guide clients through AI transformation initiatives, bridging the gap between strategic business problems and Google Cloud solutions
  • Build and maintain infrastructure-as-code using Terraform across cloud environments
  • Collaborate with a founder-led engineering team in a high-velocity, low-bureaucracy culture
  • Manage client relationships independently, proactively communicating progress and flagging risks without requiring follow-up

Your Background

Essential

  • 7+ years of hands-on Google Cloud Platform experience in an architecture or senior engineering capacity
  • Google Cloud Professional Architect certification (mandatory)
  • Deep expertise in Big Data architecture, ETL pipeline design, and data warehousing — particularly BigQuery
  • Infrastructure-as-Code fluency; Terraform is non-negotiable
  • Demonstrated experience engaging directly with senior client stakeholders, including C-suite
  • Proven ability to work autonomously in a remote environment — this is a self-starter role with no day-to-day management oversight
  • Exposure to Vertex AI, Gemini models, or enterprise AI/ML workloads on GCP

Desirable

  • Terraform module contribution experience or advanced automation capability
  • SAP-on-GCP migration exposure
  • Familiarity with Palo Alto security integrations in cloud environments
  • Python and/or Go scripting capability
  • Prior contract consulting experience with a track record of hitting the ground running on short engagements
