Project Overview

A specialist financial advice technology firm is seeking an experienced Business Analyst to support a structured, multi-phase implementation program for a major institutional client. The engagement runs across four to six month blocks within a two-year implementation cycle, offering meaningful tenure and continuity. The client operates in the financial advice sector within a large Australian financial institution, requiring deep familiarity with advice regulation, advice technology platforms, and the nuances of translating complex client requirements into actionable business documentation.

The ideal talent is confident working client-facing, comfortable navigating the ambiguity of a fast-moving technology business, and capable of holding their own in workshops and stakeholder sessions without requiring hand-holding.

Key Activities

  • Elicit, interpret, and document business requirements from institutional client stakeholders, including where articulation is incomplete or inconsistent
  • Translate requirements into clear business requirements documents (BRDs) and supporting artefacts, applying sound understanding of financial advice processes and regulation
  • Participate in client-facing workshops and discovery sessions, representing the delivery team with professionalism and composure
  • Collaborate closely with an internal technical lead and delivery team of six to eight, including both permanent and contract resources
  • Manage requirement traceability across implementation phases, ensuring alignment between client expectations and delivered outcomes
  • Surface and escalate ambiguities, risks, or scope gaps early to protect delivery quality and client confidence

Your Background

Essential

  • Demonstrated experience as a BA on financial advice technology implementations within an Australian financial institution
  • Familiarity with advice regulation, compliance frameworks, and advice platform environments
  • Strong client-facing skills — able to present confidently, facilitate workshops, and build credibility with institutional stakeholders
  • Proven ability to produce high-quality BRDs and requirements documentation in complex, regulated environments
  • Comfortable operating with ambiguity in a lean, delivery-focused team

Desirable

  • RG146 qualification or background as a former financial adviser
  • Experience working within or alongside technology implementation firms rather than purely internal project teams
  • Exposure to integrated financial technology stacks and systems integration programs
