The Lead Specialist: Corporate Investment Sales is responsible for driving growth across the employee benefits and institutional investment market. The role focuses on consultative selling, developing strategic relationships, and delivering tailored investment solutions—including umbrella funds, annuities, and institutional portfolios—to help retirement fund members and institutional investors achieve their financial goals.
Key Responsibilities
A. Business Development & Sales
- Identify, prospect, and convert new business opportunities in the employee benefits investment market.
- Develop and implement a structured sales strategy to meet annual growth and profitability targets.
- Prepare and deliver persuasive presentations, proposals, and tenders to secure new mandates.
- Maintain a strong sales pipeline using CRM tools to track conversion and progress.
B. Relationship Management
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with employee benefit consultants, HR and finance executives, trustees, and institutional clients.
- Collaborate with investment, legal, operations, and client service teams to ensure seamless onboarding.
- Conduct regular client reviews, investment updates, and identify cross?selling opportunities.
C. Investment Product Expertise
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of investment principles, asset classes, and portfolio construction for institutional and retirement fund clients.
- Partner with product and investment teams to customise solutions for client needs.
- Provide market insights and investment commentary to clients and intermediaries.
D. Market & Regulatory Awareness
- Stay abreast of industry trends, competitor developments, and regulatory changes (FSCA, FAIS, TCF, POPIA).
- Ensure all engagements comply with legislation and internal governance frameworks.
E. Additional Responsibilities
- Promote cross-functional collaboration within SBG.
- Uphold compliance, risk governance and ethical standards.
Qualifications & Experience
Education (Required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Investments, or related field.
- Postgraduate qualification advantageous.
Experience (Required)
- 5–8 years experience in investment or employee benefits sales.
- Experience within asset management, life insurance, or retirement fund administration.
