Our client, a leading global strategy consulting firm, is supporting a large steel manufacturer on the final phase of the construction and commissioning of a new Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) steel plant in Spain. As the project enters its critical commissioning stage, the team is seeking an experienced industry expert to provide hands-on support through to first heat.
The consultant will play a key role within the Project Management Office (PMO), driving the successful completion of electrical works, automation, and commissioning activities. Working closely with the consulting team and the client's project leadership, you will help ensure the project is delivered safely, efficiently, and on schedule during this business-critical phase.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the PMO during the final phase of construction and commissioning of an EAF steel plant.
- Provide subject matter expertise across electrical systems, automation, and commissioning activities through to first heat.
- Work closely with the consulting team, client stakeholders, EPC partners, and site teams to monitor project progress and resolve execution challenges.
- Identify and mitigate commissioning risks, ensuring readiness for plant start-up and operational handover.
- Track project milestones, coordinate cross-functional activities, and support decision-making to ensure timely project delivery.
- Provide technical guidance and practical recommendations based on prior experience delivering large-scale industrial CapEx projects.
Your Background
- 10+ years of experience in large industrial CapEx projects, with significant hands-on experience in EAF steel plant construction and commissioning.
- Strong expertise in electrical works, automation, and commissioning within steel manufacturing environments.
- Proven experience supporting projects through commissioning and first heat.
- Business or conversational proficiency in Spanish is required to collaborate effectively with local stakeholders.
- Experience working with large steel producers, EPC contractors, or industrial project management teams is highly preferred.
- Ability to travel to and work in Spain for the duration of the engagement.
Other Information
- This is a contractual engagement expected to run for an initial duration of 6 months, with the possibility of extension.
- This is a full-time role supporting a live project based in Spain, with an on-site presence expected 3-4 days per week.
- Consultants based outside Spain are welcome to apply, provided they are able to travel to and work in Spain.
- Accommodation and travel expenses related to the engagement will be covered.
