Project Overview

Our client, Rand Mutual Assurance (RMA), is seeking an experienced Head of Modelling and Analytics to establish and lead a new analytics capability within its Research and Analytics function. The successful consultant will play a key role in building a central data hub, developing pricing and analytical models, and introducing predictive analytics and machine learning capabilities to support product development and portfolio optimisation.

Working closely with actuarial, research, and data teams, the consultant will provide technical leadership across data architecture, modelling, analytics, and business intelligence. This is a strategic, hands-on role focused on designing scalable analytical capabilities rather than traditional actuarial valuation work.

The ideal consultant will have a strong background in data modelling, analytics, business intelligence, and statistical modelling, with experience working within insurance, actuarial, financial services, or similarly data-intensive environments. Experience leading technical initiatives and mentoring junior team members will be highly advantageous.

Key Activities

  • Develop and optimise pricing, quoting, and predictive models.
  • Work closely with actuarial teams to translate business logic into scalable analytical models.
  • Design and implement data models, data structures, and SQL-based solutions.
  • Develop dashboards and business intelligence solutions using Power BI or similar platforms.
  • Collaborate with enterprise data teams to ensure effective data integration and governance.
  • Introduce statistical modelling, predictive analytics, and machine learning approaches where appropriate.
  • Support automation of modelling processes and analytical workflows.
  • Implement best practices around documentation, governance, version control, and code repositories.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior analytics resources.
  • Contribute to the long-term analytics and AI roadmap for the organisation.
