Our client, is seeking a senior commercial and finance specialist to work alongside its leadership team on growth, performance improvement and transformation initiatives.
This is an engagement for someone who has operated at executive level - not a pure analyst role - and who can move comfortably between board-level strategy and hands-on modelling without losing momentum. The successful consultant will build financial models and commercial plans, lead activity-based costing and service value review work, and help shape how the business prices, invests and improves performance across its portfolio.
The role will run 2–3 days per week initially from now until December, with the opportunity for scope to increase. Work will be based on-site at the client's premises, and the consultant must be based in Sydney.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain financial models, P&Ls, forecasts and scenario analyses to support commercial decisions
- Lead activity-based costing work, establishing cost-to-serve, cost drivers and allocation methodology to expose where margin is genuinely made and lost
- Conduct service value reviews across products, service lines and client segments, recommending where to invest, reprice, redesign or exit
- Translate strategy into measurable commercial plans, covering pricing, margin, unit economics, growth cases and business cases
- Partner with, or help stand up, FP&A capability including budgeting cycles, forecasting rhythm, management reporting and KPI frameworks
- Identify and quantify performance improvement opportunities across revenue, cost and operating model, and support execution
- Support go-to-market planning with commercial rigour, including business cases, channel economics and post-implementation review
- Present findings and recommendations to executives and boards in a form they can act on
Your Background
- 10+ years in senior commercial strategy, corporate finance or FP&A leadership roles
- Consulting background (strategy, transaction services or performance improvement), or equivalent depth gained in-house across multiple businesses or transformation programs
- Demonstrated experience designing and applying activity-based costing and cost-to-serve models in complex, multi-service organisations
- Track record of service value / portfolio reviews that led to real pricing, investment or rationalisation decisions
- Sector exposure across any of healthcare, insurance, banking and broader financial services
- Experience leading or partnering with FP&A teams, including uplifting process and capability
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity, with incomplete data, and setting up structure themselves
