Project Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced change management practitioner for an embedded role in the transformation function of a major Australian retailer. This is a hands-on operational role designed for someone comfortable executing across multiple workstreams – not a strategic advisory position. You will support a multi-stream transformation program, starting with potential backfill coverage within a Finance transformation program, before flexing into broader change and organisational design priorities across the business.


This engagement offers the opportunity to work within a complex, large-scale retail organisation where your ability to connect interdependencies across programs, think systemically, and navigate stakeholder dynamics will be highly valued. You'll operate in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment where consulting-style problem-solving and adaptability are essential. The role is for an immediate start, based in Sydney with regular on-site attendance at the client's Bella Vista location expected.


Key Activities

  • Change Management & Support: Lead change readiness activities and stakeholder engagement across transformation initiatives, moving beyond tactical change administration to provide strategic change counsel embedded in program teams.
  • Organisational Design & Operating Model: Contribute to operating model design and refinement, helping to shape how the organisation will function post-transformation and advising on structural interdependencies.
  • Multi-Stream Program Coordination: Identify and manage interdependencies across multiple concurrent transformation streams, providing cross-program visibility and supporting holistic delivery.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships across a complex organisational landscape, understanding key stakeholders and influencing collaboration between functions and levels.
  • Process Improvement & Problem-Solving: Apply consulting-style analytical thinking to identify process inefficiencies and recommend solutions, adapting quickly to shifting priorities and ambiguous briefs.
  • Strategic & Tactical Delivery: Zoom out to understand strategic direction, then zoom in to execute at the ground level where change happens – moving fluidly between these perspectives as needed.


Your Background


Essential:

  • 5-8 years of experience in change management, organisational design, or program delivery with exposure to multi-stream transformation initiatives.
  • Demonstrated capability in change management that extends beyond tactical training and communications – ability to think systemically and advise on change strategy.
  • Strong stakeholder management and engagement experience in complex organisational environments.
  • Consulting background or equivalent experience demonstrating rigorous, structured problem-solving in ambiguous, fast-paced settings.
  • Retail industry experience highly regarded.
  • Operating model or organisational design exposure valued.
