We are seeking an experienced Digital Asset Management Systems (DAMS) specialist to conduct an architectural review for an organisation that manages significant digital, photographic, audiovisual and archival collections. This is a specialist advisory engagement supporting a government proposal process, requiring subject matter expertise across DAMS and digital collections architecture, migration and integration, translated into a practical roadmap to support executive decision-making.

You will bring practical, hands-on DAMS and digital collections experience — ideally gained within museums, archives, libraries or other cultural institutions — to assess the current environment, define target-state architecture, and advise on governance, sequencing, risk and cost considerations. This is a subject matter expert role, expected to run at approximately 1–2 days per week.

Key Activities

• DAMS & Digital Collections: Assess, select, consolidate or transform DAMS, collection management platforms, metadata models and digital preservation environments.
• Architecture, Migration & Integration: Conduct current-state reviews and define target-state architecture; plan repository consolidation and content migration; advise on integrating DAMS with CMS, collection management, search and enterprise platforms.
• Roadmap & Operating Model Design: Translate technical findings into governance approaches, implementation roadmaps, sequencing, risks, costs and executive-ready recommendations.

Your Background

Essential:

• Demonstrated hands-on experience with DAMS and digital collections platforms, including assessment, selection, consolidation or transformation.
• Experience conducting architecture reviews — current-state assessment through to target-state design.
• Practical experience with repository consolidation, content migration planning, and integrating DAMS with CMS, collection management, search or enterprise platforms.
• Proven ability to translate technical findings into roadmaps, governance recommendations and executive-level advice.
• Seniority and credibility to operate as a subject matter expert, engaging directly with senior stakeholders.

Desirable:

• Experience within museums, galleries, archives, libraries or government archival agencies.
• Familiarity with digital preservation standards and metadata models relevant to cultural collections.
• Australia-based preferred, though location is not critical for the right talent.
