Project Overview

Our client, a global consulting firm, is supporting the end-to-end setup of a new copper foil production facility. This initiative spans technical partner assessment, process configuration, plant commissioning, and downstream customer qualification for battery-grade and CCL-grade copper foil.

As the Technical Expert, you will provide deep process engineering knowledge and vendor evaluation expertise. You will bridge critical gaps in equipment selection, ED line configuration, surface treatment, and technology partner comparisons—directly influencing plant design, ramp-up success, and operational readiness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise on copper foil manufacturing processes, including ED line configuration, surface treatment, equipment selection, and commissioning/ramp-up.
  • Lead technical assessment of technology partners (e.g., KOTA, TJIN, Tex, ZSME, Nippon Steel, Mitsui Kinzoku) through comparative analysis, quotation reviews, and site visit evaluations.
  • Identify red flags in vendor proposals and provide practical guidance on commercial terms, risk mitigation, and partner selection.
  • Support knowledge transfer on plant setup, operational best practices, and process optimization for battery and PCB/CCL applications.
  • Collaborate with the client's project team to inform technical decisions impacting product qualification timelines.

Your Background

  • 5+ years in an executive or senior operational role (Plant Head, Operations Manager, Commissioning Lead, Project Execution Expert) within copper foil manufacturing.
  • Hands-on experience with ED copper foil technology providers, equipment vendors, or plant operators—specifically in plant setup, ramp-up, or qualification for battery or CCL applications.
  • Prior employment or deep project exposure to companies such as Mitsui Kinzoku, Nuode, Lotte Energy Materials, SK Nexilis, Hailiang, or technology partners like KOTA, TJNE, or Tex.
  • Strong ability to assess technical-commercial trade-offs, review quotations, and flag operational risks.
