A global payments organisation is seeking a Full Stack Developer with a strong focus on API integration and backend development to support the design, development, and deployment of technology solutions. The consultant will contribute to building and delivering scalable software solutions, supporting product development initiatives, and enabling efficient integration across systems within a complex technology environment.

This engagement will run from mid-June to the end of the year, with the potential for extension. The role will be based in Auckland or Wellington, operating in a hybrid working model.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy software applications, APIs, and services aligned to engineering standards and best practices
• Support API integration initiatives across platforms and systems
• Contribute across the full software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, solution design, development, deployment, and ongoing support
• Develop new products and support bringing solutions to market efficiently
• Build and implement technology solutions and support transformation initiatives
• Lead unit testing and quality assurance activities for developed solutions
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with integrated automated testing and governance
• Work across microservices and distributed system architectures
• Collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to deliver solutions
• Support monitoring, observability, and performance optimisation of systems
• Mentor and support junior engineers where required

Your Background

• Strong experience in full stack development, with a focus on backend engineering
• Proficiency in Java and Web APIs (client is a Java-based environment)
• Experience across the full software development lifecycle
• Strong knowledge of microservices architecture and distributed systems
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• Experience in cards and payments (desirable, not mandatory)
