Project Overview

Our client is looking for an Assistant Manager-level contractor to support the delivery of a First Line GRC Maturity Assessment in the Financial Services sector. The role will help evaluate the maturity and effectiveness of first line governance, risk, and control practices within a regulated banking environment, focusing on operational and enterprise risk management, while also assessing technology-enabled controls, automation, SAP control environments, and emerging AI-related risk considerations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the execution of a First Line GRC Maturity Assessment across business units.
  • Assist in assessing operational risk management practices, controls, and first line risk ownership.
  • Help evaluate alignment with the enterprise risk management framework.
  • Assess the effectiveness of technology-enabled controls, automated processes, and digital risk management practices.
  • Review SAP control environments and supporting risk and control technologies.
  • Evaluate the use of automation, data analytics, and continuous monitoring capabilities within the control environment.
  • Assess emerging AI governance and technology risk management practices where relevant.
  • Identify maturity gaps and contribute to improvement recommendations.
  • Prepare clear findings and support reporting for management and risk committees.
  • Engage with business, technology, risk, and compliance stakeholders to validate information and findings.
  • Track progress and support project management activities to ensure timely delivery.


Key Skills & Experience

  • Operational risk management experience within Financial Services or banking.
  • Exposure to enterprise risk management (ERM) frameworks.
  • Experience assessing governance, risk, and control environments.
  • Understanding of technology risk, automated controls, and technology-enabled risk management practices.
  • Experience with SAP environments, SAP controls, SAP GRC, or SAP-related risk and control frameworks.
  • Exposure to automation technologies, controls automation, workflow technologies, or process improvement initiatives.
  • Understanding of AI governance, AI risk management, or emerging technology risk considerations would be advantageous.
  • Some project management experience, preferably in assessments or process improvement.
  • Understanding of banking and Financial Services risk environments.
  • Experience supporting maturity assessments or diagnostic reviews is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risks across both business and technology environments.
