Our client is seeking an experienced Product Manager to join their New Product Development squad within Retail Banking Services. This is a pivotal contractor role supporting a dynamic, customer-obsessed organisation that is transforming its ways of working to deliver exceptional banking experiences. You will report to the Chapter Lead for Simple Credit Product and Solutions, working within a squad responsible for end-to-end product development, from ideation through to launch, whilst ensuring robust risk management and regulatory compliance.
This engagement offers the opportunity to shape innovative banking products and features that serve over 10 million personal and small business customers. You will drive product strategy, lead cross-functional collaboration, and play a critical role in enhancing customer experience, managing portfolio growth, and ensuring safe, compliant product delivery. Success will be measured by your ability to execute against the product roadmap, deliver strong outcomes in an agile environment, and drive meaningful improvements in product performance and customer satisfaction.
Key Activities
- Product Development & Strategy: Lead the end-to-end product development process from ideation and concept development through to launch; contribute to NPD strategy development and execution; identify market trends, customer preferences, regulatory changes, and competitive landscape to inform product strategy.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with finance, marketing, compliance, technology, and distribution teams to ensure seamless product delivery and alignment across the organisation.
- Customer Experience & Analytics: Continuously improve customer experience by reviewing and enhancing product features, benefits, and digital experience; analyse product performance, KPIs, and customer complaints to identify improvement opportunities and growth potential.
- Risk Management & Compliance: Proactively manage risks through regular controls and robust product governance; identify and escalate issues swiftly, driving remediation; ensure all products comply with relevant regulatory requirements and support regulatory responses.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Demonstrate strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and influencing skills to drive outcomes across the squad and broader organisation.
- Commercial & Portfolio Growth: Apply sound commercial acumen to support spend and usage strategy, proposition development, and portfolio growth initiatives.
Your Background
Essential:
- Proven ability to drive outcomes and execute against a product roadmap of initiatives in an agile environment.
- Strong product management experience, with demonstrated ability to lead end-to-end product development and launch.
- Excellent analytical and data-driven decision-making skills; ability to use insights to inform strategy and identify opportunities.
- Proven problem-solving skills coupled with the ability to innovate and think strategically about portfolio growth.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and influencing capabilities across cross-functional teams.
- Sound commercial acumen and understanding of product performance metrics and KPIs.
Desirable:
- Strong retail banking product knowledge or proven experience managing banking products.
- Risk mindset with ability to proactively identify, understand, and act on current and future risks.
- Tertiary qualification in Business or Commerce.
- Experience working in regulated environments or with compliance and regulatory requirements.
