Our client, a global strategy consulting firm is supporting a leading building materials player engaged in a multi-year initiative to strengthen its sales execution and go-to-market effectiveness across India. The organization operates at scale within traditional retail channels, with a strong presence across categories such as cement, paints, plywood, and allied building materials.
The Sales Consultant role is part of a bazaar/traditional trade sales transformation program, aimed at improving on-ground execution, distributor–dealer–retailer effectiveness, and overall market performance. The consultant will play a critical role in driving execution excellence across regions, working closely with frontline sales teams to translate strategy into measurable impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with on-ground sales teams (RSMs, ASMs, Sales Managers) to drive sales performance and execution across bazaar / traditional trade channels.
- Support distributor, dealer, and retailer effectiveness initiatives, including coverage expansion, productivity improvement, and GTM execution.
- Conduct regular market, outlet, and performance reviews to identify gaps and improvement opportunities across regions.
- Enable execution of sales processes, incentives, and trade initiatives to improve throughput and consistency on the ground.
- Act as a bridge between central program teams and field sales, ensuring alignment and disciplined execution across markets.
Your Background:
- 6–15 years of hands-on sales experience within building materials (cement, paints, plywood, tiles, or allied categories).
- Strong exposure to bazaar / traditional trade sales models and distributor-led GTM structures.
- Proven experience working closely with large field sales teams and channel partners.
- Strong execution mindset with the ability to operate in fast-paced, on-ground environments.
- Fluency in Hindi is essential for effective field-level engagement; working knowledge of English is expected.
Other Details:
The role is based in Mumbai, with extensive PAN-India travel required due to the on-ground nature of the engagement. The project is expected to run for approximately 2 years.
The initial contract duration is of 1 year, extendable based on performance and evolving project requirements.
