Project Overview

Our client, a global payment consulting firm, is supporting a leading financial services institution in Sri Lanka on a large-scale analytics transformation initiative. The project aims to enhance portfolio performance and drive card spend growth through advanced data science–led insights.


To enable this, the client is looking to onboard a Portfolio Analytics Consultant with a strong background in data science and analytics within the BFSI or credit cards domain. The expert will play a key role in developing and deploying models for cross-sell, upsell, and customer activation while working closely with senior stakeholders and analytics teams on-site in Colombo.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of data science models focused on cross-sell, upsell, and portfolio growth (e.g., XGBoost, segmentation models).
  • Analyze and optimize portfolio spending patterns to identify customer segments, merchant opportunities, and campaign recommendations.
  • Drive card activation initiatives to improve spend and engagement metrics.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams including Product, Operations, and Portfolio Management.
  • Present analytical findings, model performance, and recommendations to senior management.
  • Oversee project documentation, pipeline planning, and execution tracking.

Your Background:

  • 7+ years of total experience in Data Science/Analytics, with at least 3 years in portfolio or cross-sell analytics.
  • Strong experience in BFSI or credit card analytics is mandatory.
  • Proficiency in Python/SAS, SQL, and model development frameworks (e.g., regression, XGBoost, clustering).
  • Excellent stakeholder management and presentation skills.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, global or regional analytics teams is preferred.
  • Advanced degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field is desirable.
