A tier-1 PE and advisory firm is seeking an experienced data analytics consultant to design and build a comprehensive portfolio management tool for a leading residential aged care operator. This project involves creating a sophisticated data platform (Excel-based or interactive dashboard, optional) that will enable senior management to strategically manage their portfolio of aged care homes and assess growth opportunities.

The ideal talent will combine advanced technical data skills with strong commercial acumen, capable of synthesising complex market data sources and internal operational data into an intuitive, actionable management tool. This is a high-impact project requiring someone who can work independently with messy, dense datasets whilst maintaining focus on business outcomes and stakeholder needs. We're looking for either an ex-MBB consultant with exceptional Excel modelling capabilities or a commercially-minded data science professional with experience in business intelligence tools.

Key Activities

• Design and build a comprehensive portfolio management and market mapping tool incorporating multiple complex data sources (market intelligence and internal operational data)
• Develop advanced data models and analytical frameworks to assess portfolio performance and identify growth opportunities
• Synthesise and structure diverse, dense datasets into a user-friendly tool that enables strategic decision-making by senior management
• Review existing models and data structures, identifying opportunities to build upon or enhance current approaches
• Collaborate with internal management stakeholders to understand requirements, validate outputs, and ensure the tool meets strategic objectives
• Create documentation and user guidance to enable ongoing use and maintenance of the tool by internal teams
• Potentially design the solution for future external stakeholder use and presentation

Your Background

Essential:

• 5+ years of consulting experience (ideally MBB or equivalent strategy/management consulting background) OR data science/analytics experience with demonstrated commercial application
• Exceptional Excel modelling skills with proven ability to work with complex, messy datasets and build sophisticated analytical tools
• Strong commercial acumen and business judgment; ability to translate data into strategic insights
• Experience designing portfolio management tools, market mapping frameworks, or similar analytical platforms
• Self-directed working style with ability to drive projects forward independently
• Client-facing skills and stakeholder management capability
• Experience in healthcare, aged care, or similar regulated industries would be advantageous

Desirable:

• Proficiency in business intelligence and data visualisation tools (PowerBI, Tableau, or similar)
• Background in private equity portfolio management or investment analysis
• Exposure to market analysis and competitive landscape mapping
• Understanding of aged care or healthcare operations and market dynamics
• Python or R programming skills for advanced data manipulation
