Our client, a top tier consulting firm, is conducting commercial due diligence for a furniture company acquisition and requires an experienced Associate Consultant for a three-week engagement in Sydney or Melbourne. Working within a structured DD team (Manager, Consultant, Associate Consultant, and 1-2 junior Associates), you'll take ownership of the market sizing model and contribute to other analytical workstreams. You'll work both independently and collaboratively, primarily supporting client meetings and presentations whilst developing sophisticated analytical outputs. This role requires on-site or hybrid attendance, offering an excellent opportunity to apply tier 1-2 DD expertise in a high-impact transaction.
Key Activities
- Market Sizing Model Ownership: Build, own, and maintain the comprehensive market sizing model for the furniture sector, ensuring analytical rigour and accuracy
- Data Analysis & Modelling: Develop complex financial and commercial models using advanced analytical tools (Alteryx, Tableau, or equivalent)
- Workstream Contribution: Work both independently and collaboratively across other DD workstreams including competitive analysis and customer diligence
- Client Deliverables: Create compelling, client-ready content for presentations and reports
- Meeting Support: Primarily support client meetings and presentations, contributing analytical insights and findings
Your Background
Essential:
- 2-4 years of experience in commercial due diligence at a tier 1-2 consulting firm (Big 4, MBB, or equivalent transaction advisory)
- Proven expertise in developing and owning market sizing models for DD engagements
- Strong proficiency in advanced Excel and data visualisation tools (Alteryx, Tableau, Power BI, or similar)
- Experience working both independently and collaboratively on DD workstreams
- Strong analytical skills with ability to deliver client-ready presentations
Desirable:
- Exposure to retail, consumer goods, or furniture/homewares sectors
- Experience with buy-side commercial DD
- Familiarity with Australian market dynamics and data sources
- Background supporting private equity or M&A transactions
- Experience on compressed DD timelines (3-4 weeks)
