Project Overview

FSD Africa requires the services of a Program Assistant/PM to assist the Policy and Regulation Unit of the Capital Markets team. This is a critical role which will create much-needed capacity for the specialists in the team.

An ideal start date will be in September or October 2025, with the contract running until the end of March 2026.

The ideal candidate is smart, highly organized, and thrives in a fast-moving environment, bringing structure and clarity to complex or dynamic situations.

This is a remote role, but some travel will be required (especially if based outside Kenya).

Key responsibilities:

  • Programme Planning and Management: Assist in the design of projects and programmes, preparation of approval documents, drafting of terms of reference, and tracking of project milestones to ensure effective implementation.
  • Development Impact and Results Tracking: Collect, analyse, and update portfolio data; support monitoring and evaluation frameworks; and ensure lessons learned are captured and fed back into project design and strategy refinement. Support project leads in development impact reporting and risk analysis.
  • Communication and Knowledge Sharing: Synthesise research and project outcomes into accessible knowledge products, including briefing notes, blogs, newsletters, and opinion editorials, to advance stakeholder learning and engagement. Support the development of technical content for project-related events and post-event monitoring
  • Resource Planning and Budget Management: Support financial and resource planning for the team, ensuring efficient allocation, monitoring, and reporting on budgets.  Support the project leads in tracking programme implementation milestones with project partners
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Coordination: Liaise with internal teams, external partners, and market stakeholders to support collaboration, strengthen partnerships, and advance the institution’s market development agenda.
  • Research and Knowledge Management: Undertake market research and maintain credible data flows to inform the strategy execution. Support knowledge management initiatives that strengthen the team’s evidence base and thought leadership.

Background sought:

  • Proven experience in managing projects
  • Experience working in financial/capital markets and/or with financial regulatory work will be highly beneficial
  • Successful track record of conducting and analysing research
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management
  • Good drafting and reporting skills
