Our client is seeking an experienced Finance Business Partner to join their team on a 6-month fixed-term contract. The role will be responsible for financial reporting, review of Business Unit KPIs, and management accounts to ensure accurate analysis and evaluation of performance against strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage accounting functions and processes, including but not limited to:
- Reviewing journals for validity and accuracy
- Reviewing management accounts, submitting review notes, and signing off on income statements and balance sheet accounts
- Reviewing reconciliations, addressing discrepancies, and resolving reconciling items
- Ensuring subledgers/systems reconcile to the GL
- Prepare monthly financial packs, reporting, analysis, and commentary on portfolio profitability, and present to Business Heads, Managers, and/or Regional Managers
- Lead the budgeting process, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Co-ordinate planning and preparation for the annual audit
- Support the Head of Finance with ad hoc projects and delegated tasks
- Contribute to the implementation of IFRS 17
- Foster a high-performance culture through coaching, training, and effective team management
- Ensure adequacy of the control environment and engage with IFC (internal audit) teams to address findings and remediation within agreed timelines
- Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
- Build strong working relationships with Operations teams and key stakeholders
Required Knowledge, Experience & Skills
- 5–6 years post-articles reporting experience in the commercial financial services sector
- 3–5 years people leadership experience
- Insurance industry experience is highly advantageous
- Strong knowledge of accounting systems, processes, and controls, including budgeting
- Exceptional business acumen with broad commercial awareness
- In-depth knowledge of financial accounting, related processes, and international accounting standards
- Strong problem-solving ability with resilience, critical thinking, and adaptability to change
- Collaborative mindset, continuous learning orientation, and digital literacy
Educational Requirements
- Qualified CA (SA) – Non-negotiable
