Project Overview

A major financial institution is seeking a Business Analyst to support its SME Credit Cards team in improving the full lifecycle of business credit operations - from application and approval through to onboarding and servicing. Based in Sydney with a hybrid working arrangement, this 6-month role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to enhanced customer experience, operational efficiency, and stronger risk and compliance outcomes.

Working closely with the Service Owner and cross-functional teams, the consultant will lead process mapping, root cause analysis, and business requirement development to enable scalable, sustainable improvements across the SME credit journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse and document current-state SME credit processes, identifying inefficiencies and improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate on the definition of future-state designs that support customer experience, commercial value, and risk mitigation.
  • Develop clear business requirements, user stories, process flows, and change impact assessments.
  • Align proposed enhancements with product, operational, and policy goals.
  • Work closely with teams across product, risk, legal, operations, and technology to ensure regulatory alignment and implementation readiness.
  • Prepare supporting documentation and artefacts for training, testing, and operational rollout.

Your Background

  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst in financial services, ideally in credit, lending, or product optimisation.
  • Strong skills in process analysis, including current/future state mapping and gap analysis.
  • Experience conducting root cause analysis and developing scalable, low-risk solutions.
  • High proficiency in creating business documentation such as requirements, workflows, and impact assessments.
  • Working knowledge of credit operations, with an understanding of execution at scale.
  • Strong commercial and risk acumen to evaluate the implications of process and product changes.
  • Ability to engage and influence stakeholders across multiple business units.
  • Delivery-focused with a proactive mindset and ability to navigate ambiguity to drive outcomes.
