Our client, a global consulting firm, is supporting a flagship initiative by the Government of India focused on accelerating research and innovation in the life sciences, MedTech, and healthcare sectors. As part of this engagement, a new grant program is being set up to identify, fund, and support high-impact R&D projects across the country.
To drive this live initiative, the consulting firm is seeking two experienced Program Managers with prior experience working with BIRAC. The consultants will provide strategic and operational support to the design and delivery of this grant program. The consultants will play a pivotal role in ensuring the program’s effectiveness and impact, collaborating closely with stakeholders in government, academia, and industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the design and operational setup of a new government grant program under the research and innovation theme.
- Oversee end-to-end grant lifecycle activities, including proposal evaluation, fund disbursement, compliance, and progress monitoring.
- Interface with key stakeholders including government officials, research institutions, and sectoral experts to ensure alignment and execution.
- Provide strategic guidance informed by experience with similar public innovation programs (especially BIRAC-led initiatives).
- Draft, review, and refine program documentation, reports, and impact assessments.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of grant processes, policies, and governance mechanisms.
Your background:
- Prior experience working with BIRAC (as a Program Officer, Senior Program Officer, or Program Manager) is strongly preferred.
- 4–5+ years of experience in grant management, ideally within public sector programs or innovation funding bodies.
- Deep understanding of the pharma, life sciences, MedTech, or healthcare innovation landscape in India is good to have but not mandatory.
- Proven ability to work within or alongside government systems, with strong stakeholder engagement and program management skills.
- Advanced degree in public health, life sciences, public policy, or a related field is preferred.
Roles available:
Full-Time Consultant
- Based in Delhi (preferred) or remote
- Will provide day-to-day, hands-on support to manage the grant program.
Part-Time Expert
- Remote-only
- Approximately 10-12 hours per week
- Will offer senior-level input, review key deliverables, and advise on program design and implementation.
Other Information:
This opportunity will be on an initial contract duration of 1 year, with potential for extension. Both roles are flexible in the work arrangement, with a preference for Delhi-based availability for the full-time consultant, though remote options will be considered for the right profiles.
