Our client, a leading global consulting firm is supporting a prominent player in the manufacturing sector, is undertaking a strategic initiative to assess growth and investment opportunities within the forging market—specifically focused on alloys, stainless steel, and specialty steel. This effort is part of a broader diligence and market landscaping exercise aimed at identifying value creation levers across the sector.

To support this initiative, the client is seeking a seasoned industry expert who can bring deep sector insights, on-the-ground knowledge, and strong commercial acumen. The consultant will play a critical role in shaping the client’s understanding of the forging ecosystem, enabling strategic decisions related to market positioning, competitive dynamics, and operational feasibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth analysis of the forging and ESR (Electro Slag Remelting) industry with a focus on specialty steel, stainless steel, and alloy segments.
• Map key players, supply chain structures, and emerging trends within the Indian and global forging landscape.
• Support commercial due diligence efforts, including identifying demand drivers, customer segments, and potential risks.
• Provide insights into production processes, capacity planning, and technical differentiators across manufacturers.
• Collaborate closely with the client’s leadership and strategy teams to synthesize findings into actionable recommendations.
• Visit client and industry sites to gather primary insights and validate assumptions through stakeholder discussions.

Your Background

• 15+ years of experience in the forging industry and ESR (Electro Slag Remelting)
• Strong domain expertise in alloys, specialty steel, and stainless steel production and application.
• Track record of advising on or executing market assessments, investment evaluations, or operational turnarounds.
• Engineering or metallurgical background or a similar education background.
• Comfortable working in fast-paced environments with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams

This is a full-time, on-site engagement based in Gurgaon, with travel to the client site 5 days a week. The initial contract duration is 10–12 weeks, starting as soon as possible.
