Our client is looking for a Systems Analyst that will be responsible for analysing and designing IT solutions to support business initiatives, with a focus on cross-border payments and financial systems. The role includes gathering and translating business requirements, supporting the development process, and ensuring high-quality, user-aligned technical solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand and document system requirements and functional needs.
- Analyse and design enhancements or new functionality for existing systems and databases, especially within the payments and forex domain.
- Assist in planning and coordinating development efforts to align with business goals.
- Participate in functional and system design workshops and ensure alignment with user expectations.
- Assist in identifying risks, issues, and recommend suitable mitigation strategies.
- Work with developers and architects to define system interfaces, data flows, and API integrations.
- Write and execute SQL queries to support analysis and system understanding.
- Contribute to screen flow documentation, UI/UX discussions, and usability planning.
- Create system models and diagrams (e.g., use case, activity, sequence diagrams) using UML and related standards.
- Provide input into testing processes by reviewing test cases and supporting QA efforts.
- Participate in daily stand-ups and contribute to team collaboration and agile delivery processes.
- Ensure documentation is accurate, reviewed, signed off, and maintained on shared platforms like Wikis.
Industry Domain Experience:
- Understanding of cross-border and international payment systems (e.g., SWIFT, ISO20022, MT/PACS/PAIN messages).
- Familiarity with SAMOS and Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) systems.
- Exposure to Balance of Payments reporting, exchange control regulations, and integration with SARB/Finsurv systems.
- Previous work on payments modernization initiatives is highly beneficial.
Qualifications:
- Degree or Diploma in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
- CBAP certification would be advantageous.
Experience:
- 3–6 years’ experience in systems analysis, preferably in financial services or payments-related projects.
- Working knowledge of Use Cases, UML, and business process modeling.
- Experience with payment systems, forex, and related integrations is a strong plus.
