Opportunity Overview
Our client, a leading Malaysian Bank, is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and deliver a number of strategic projects they have lined up for 2025. This role involves managing full project lifecycles (SDLC), coordinating across business and technical teams, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet stakeholder expectations. The position offers the opportunity to work on high-impact projects.
The ideal candidate will bring strong domain knowledge in banking systems/applications, technical expertise, and exceptional project management skills to navigate complex business and technical landscapes effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning & Execution:
- Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Collaborate with business and technical teams to establish functional and technical requirements.
- Ensure the timely delivery of key project milestones and planned deliverables.
- Stakeholder & Team Management:
- Engage with business users and technical team members to align roles and responsibilities.
- Manage stakeholders, including Project Steering Committees and Project Working Groups.
- Lead cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives.
- Vendor & Resource Management:
- Oversee vendor deliverables and ensure smooth implementation of project activities (if applicable).
- Ensure proper resource allocation and facilities are available for project success.
- Risk & Issue Management:
- Identify and mitigate project risks proactively.
- Escalate and resolve issues in a timely manner to minimize project impact.
- Governance & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, audit, and risk management requirements.
- Follow project governance processes, templates, and documentation standards.
- Monitoring & Reporting:
- Track and monitor project progress, ensuring activities remain on schedule.
- Provide regular updates to stakeholders and steering committees on project progress, risks, and financial status.
Your Background
Experience & Qualifications:
- Project Management:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Project Manager roles.
- Proven track record managing IT systems development and implementation projects in the banking or financial services sector.
- Banking/Finance Domain:
- Strong understanding of banking systems, applications, and processes.
- Experience managing projects with budgets exceeding MYR 3 million.
- Project Management Certifications:
- Certified in PMP, Scrum, Prince2, or SAFe.
- Technical/IT Skills:
- Experience in IT or technical project management is preferred but not mandatory.
- Consulting Experience:
- Prior experience in banking-related consulting is a plus.
