Our client, a global consulting firm is engaged with one of India’s largest shipyards and supporting them on a major 3-year transformation initiative to restore its legacy and enhance its operational and commercial success. The goal of the project is to improve various aspects, including organisational structure, yard restoration, commercial pipeline, and shipyard operations for ship repair, shipbuilding, and offshore fabrication. 

To support this initiative, they are looking for 3-4 experts with specialised experience in shipyard operations to join the team and drive impactful changes. The experts will primarily support in the shipyard’s revival, working across operations, design, IT, and commercial negotiation, ensuring the client achieves sustainable, long-term growth in both shipbuilding and repair capacities.

Key responsibilities:

• Contribute to organisational restructuring, yard restoration, commercial strategy, and operations for ship repair, shipbuilding, and offshore fabrication
• Develop client deliverables that address critical areas like shipyard operations, design, and commercial negotiation
• Work alongside the consulting firm and client teams to establish practical and transformative changes in shipyard workflows and systems
• Lead key activities within your area of expertise, whether in operations, design, commercial negotiation, or IT integration
• Interface regularly with client stakeholders and team members to ensure alignment on deliverables and timelines.
• Support the consulting firm in shaping budgetary quotes, commercial proposals, and operational improvements

Your background:

• Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in the shipyard industry, particularly in ship building operations, ship repair, or offshore fabrication
• Proven expertise in one or more of the following areas: shipyard operations, ship design, commercial negotiations, and budgetary planning
• Industry experience in commercial shipbuilding and repair, with a robust network and knowledge of shipyard best practices

This opportunity is a 6-12 month contract, requiring experts to support the client on a part-time basis, approximately 15 to 20 hours per week, in a hybrid setup. Travel to Gujarat may be needed during the initial project phase, though the client is open to discussing flexible arrangements for the operating model.
