Project Overview

Our client, Capitec Bank, is looking for a Decision Science Lead that will play a crucial role in ensuring that deliverables within their area of responsibility align with the objectives, plans, processes, and standards of Credit Decision Science, specifically focusing on Collections, Recoveries, and Account Management.


You will lead a team of specialists in these functions to perform detailed analysis, transforming active business data into actionable strategic information. This critical information will inform the business on key credit and risk indicators, enabling data-driven decision-making and ensuring our business objectives are met efficiently and effectively.


This opportunity is open to both permanent and contracting. You will ideally be located in the Cape and willing to work on a hybrid basis at the Capitec Stellenbosch office, but strong consultants based elsewhere in South Africa will be considered if willing to travel / relocate. 


Experience

  • 4 years’ relevant experience in data science
  • Experience must include the following (within the Retail Credit Risk Management Environment):
  • Extracting and Aggregating Data from Large Relational Databases
  • Data Mining and Predictive Modelling

Preferred:

Leadership demonstrated in projects/ leading of analysts/ data scientists


Qualifications (Minimum)

  • Honours Degree in Mathematics or Data Science


Qualifications (Ideal or Preferred)

  • Masters Degree in Mathematics or Data Science
