Project Overview

Our client is a leading consulting firm in the Middle east region. They are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Risk Consultant to join their Wholesale Banking team in Riyadh. This role demands a candidate with a robust background in wholesale banking or financial risk consulting, coupled with a proven track record in risk identification, assessment, and mitigation. The ideal candidate will possess strategic vision, exceptional analytical skills, and the capability to influence and drive organizational change. This is a 6 month (extendable) role contractual role initially with a high probability of being converted to a permanent role.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Portfolio Management: Manage a portfolio of corporate clients, providing tailored banking solutions to meet their financial needs.
  • Business Development: Assist in Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities to expand the wholesale banking portfolio.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to deliver comprehensive financial solutions, including loans, trade finance, and cash management.
  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, monitor, and report on various types of financial and operational risks.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough risk assessments for both new and existing wholesale banking products and services.
  • Advisory Role: Provide expert advice on risk management practices and policies to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Trend Monitoring: Monitor emerging risks and trends in the wholesale banking industry and recommend strategic action plans.
  • Reporting: Prepare detailed risk reports and present findings to senior management and relevant committees.
  • Project Leadership: Lead projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing the product capabilities of the Wholesale Banking department.
  • Training and Workshops: Conduct training and workshops to foster a risk-aware culture within the organization.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: MBA or equivalent advanced degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience:
  • 12-15 years of relevant work experience in fintech, wholesale banking, or financial risk consulting.
  • Extensive knowledge of risk management principles, practices, and methodologies, particularly in trade finance, cash management, transaction banking, and lending.
  • Experience with treasury services, as well as credit, market, and liquidity risk management.
  • Skills:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with expertise in interpreting complex data and making informed decisions.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying risk-related concepts to a varied audience.
  • Proven project leadership skills with strong organizational and time-management capabilities.


  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance related to risk management in the banking sector.


  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in the use of risk management software and tools.


  • Local Expertise: Preference for candidates with a strong understanding of the Saudi Arabian banking landscape and regulatory framework.
